Funny things, birthdays. Like most of you I expect, as I get older I find it hard to get worked up and excited about them. But I’ve learnt over the years to lower my expectations and just enjoy what comes my way and it usually works a treat.
Today was a good one though. Not in comparison with my 41st where I got my post op results – now that was a cause for celebration, but today was a day of all the things I love doing the most. After a cuppa in bed, the card and present opening ceremony began, followed by breakfast (my favourite meal of the day) out with the family. Fresh orange juice, eggs Florentine and oodles of coffee. Then later, after surprise visits from friends bearing gifts (thanks, you know who you are) and phone calls, a country walk alongside a meandering river and cream tea to follow. Accompanied by my three children and more good friends. What a lucky girl I am?
I’ve left out the bit where I did a few chores, tidied up and got mud splattered from the dogs. Just like old relationships I’ve found it’s best to gloss over those bits and only remember the good times.
I will be getting on with Suzi now, (I've been nagged at by my two top fans ) after being distracted by East is East and my stall for the Firle Garden Show which is coming up next week, so pop back soon and I promise there will be another espisode - there's more surprising news in store for Suzi.
